Personal Attendant Services
Welcome to the Personal Attendant Services (PAS) Program at CIL! Here you will find 1-on-1 consultations, resource guides, and a dedication to supporting people with disabilities (PWD) in creating a nurturing environment that encourages their self-sufficiency and autonomy. A person-centered approach is at our core, ensuring that our services are tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs and goals.
The PAS program is a core program at the CIL and is crucial in empowering people with disabilities to make their own choices and exercise autonomy. We aim to provide accessible, conversation-based consultations and comprehensive resource guides that enable PWDs to make informed decisions about their care options.
Our program is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities, including supporting better wages and rights for domestic workers who provide essential care services. Moreover, we are innovators in education for caregivers, partnering with movement-based organizations and individuals to provide cultural competency training, skills training, and practice in building care plans customized to care recipients’ specific needs, desires, and requests. We wholeheartedly recognize and appreciate the vital part played by direct care workers in the Independent Living Movement. That’s why we’re excited to partner with advocacy initiatives to support them in their fight for more sustainable careers and equitable compensation.
By putting people with disabilities at the center of our program, we aim to create a community that celebrates interdependence, mutual respect, and the joy of diverse experiences. Our ultimate goals are to empower PWDs to live on their terms while receiving the support they need to thrive and to do our part in supporting the workforce of care workers who make this possible.
