Independent Living Peer Support

CIL was founded on the idea that people with disabilities know best how to support other people with disabilities. Our Independent Living Peer Support program draws on this idea, offering our consumers peer support through the sharing of lived experiences and expertise.

Our Peer Support Specialist can meet with you in person or virtually to help you work towards meeting your goals. There are many situations where Independent Living Peer Support could be helpful. For example:

  • Support in learning ways to advocate for yourself in housing, employment, medical settings and other areas
  • Connecting with peer support groups
  • Navigating access barriers as a person with a disability, whether the barrier is physical or informational
  • Referrals to other organizations or CIL’s programs
  • Peer coaching on how to call the county for benefits, placing the calls together
